What is the Rice Creek Watershed District (RCWD)? RCWD is a special purpose unit of government created to oversee water resources.
Mission: The purpose of the RCWD is to conserve and restore the water resources of the District for the beneficial use of current and future generations.
Geography: The RCWD encompasses about 200 square miles of Anoka, Ramsey, Washington Counties and a sliver of Hennepin County in Minnesota.
Because water district boundaries are based on how the water flows off the land, not on political boundaries, many cities are more than one watershed district. The following municipalities are at least partially in the RCWD: Arden Hills, Birchwood Village, Blaine, Centerville, Circle Pines, Columbia Heights, Columbus, Dellwood, Falcon Heights, Forest Lake, Fridley, Grant, Hugo, Lauderdale, Lexington, Lino Lakes, Mahtomedi, May Township, Mounds View, New Brighton, Roseville, Scandia, Shoreview, Spring Lake Park, Saint Anthony, White Bear Lake, White Bear Township, and Willernie.
